CHANELChanel Rouge Coco Gloss Review + Swatches Chanel recently reformulated their lip gloss with a new formula called Rouge Coco Gloss. This is a new and improved version that offers more hydration with a glossier finish and plump feel. As a long-time Glossimer fan I was a bit sad to see the original formula go but since Chanel has revamped a number of other products in their line I think it was inevitable to see a new gloss formula. The new Rouge Coco Glosses have two different formulas, most are a regular lip gloss formula Gel Brilliant Hydrantant / Moisturizing Glossimer, but three shades are what Chanel calls Top Coat Intense / Colour-Intensifying Top Coat designed to layer over lipstick to change color.

The new Rouge Coco Gloss formula is said to be “non-sticky, ultra-light…enriched with Coconut Oil, Peptides and Vitamin E, along with an exclusive Hydraboost Complex, to offer hours of comfort and moisture.” While I wouldn’t say that these noticeably plump lips more than other lip glosses, I would definitely say that these are very moisturizing compared to most other lipglosses. The texture is extremely smooth, plush and silky compared to the old Glossimer formula and totally nonsticky feeling, although they do adhere well to the lips. I’m in love with the way they feel, and the fact that they are hydrating is such a huge added bonus for me.

The Rouge Coco Glosses also feature a re-designed applicator, which is wider than normal doe-foot applicators and which softly flares out at the end to a bulbous tip. I love this new applicator, as I feel it holds product better and also allows you to more easily and quickly spread product over the lips.

As for lasting power, these last anywhere between 2-4 hours depending on the colour. The more opaque glosses tend to hang on for 4 hours, especially the ones with more vibrant colour. The sheer and light glosses tend to disappear the earliest, if not from wearing off just from absorption into the lips and difficulty in distinguishing light colours on the lips thereafter. Overall, I prefer the glosses that have watery-translucent jelly finishes, as well as the ones that are more pigmented but still a hint of sheerness that gives a softness to the colour and allows a little bit of my lips to peek through. For me, these are a huge thumbs up overall!
